Youth united against Racism

Do you want to fight racism and discrimination?
Do you want to make a difference?

Join us in our workshops

Date: 29th - 30th March, 2003
Place:
London, UK- venue tbc.

Youth United Against Racism is the result of the combined efforts of the Sikh Human Rights Group and the European Peer Training Organisation. It concerns a series of anti-discrimination workshops that are directed to young people and are being delivered by young people for we believe that young people are often in a better position to deliver a message to their peers in a more credible and efficient way that if it is delivered by authority adult figures.

The workshops involve young people from many different cultural and ethnic communities in the UK, aiming to raise awareness and promote the fight against prejudice, racism and discrimination. Following the World Conference Against Racism and the riots experienced in this country in the summer of 2001, these workshops aim to support young people in making their voice heard and facilitating their involvement in the fight against racism and discrimination in the British society.

The workshops follow a carefully developed programme that includes interactive activities, role-plays and simulations, individual reflection, and small and large group discussions. We look at issues such as diversity and social identity, stereotyping and prejudice, exclusion and discrimination.

  • Join hands with other young people in fighting racism and discrimination;
  • Develop self-awareness, break up stereotypes and prejudices and explore ways of helping others to do so;
  • Develop empathy and critical thinking;
  • Discuss racism and discrimination,
  • Exchange views and experiences and learn from each other;
  • Find out how to build a society based on equality and diversity.

Please contact us to reserve your place. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
