Conference: Religous Perspectives for Sustainable Development

On behalf of Singh Sahib, Prof Manjit Singh, Jathedar Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, SHRG was honoured to participate in a conference on religious perspectives on sustainable development called by Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib. This was held to converge with the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg, South Africa by the UN.

The keynote speech was given by Kamla Chowdary, Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General.

It is felt that religions and spiritual disciplines can play a considerable role in shaping the attitudes of the Human Race on issues of environment, sustainable development and related matters. A contributory role can also be played by religious and spiritual disciplines in the World Summit on Sustainable Development itself. It is hoped that a common goal will be perceived by all those participating.
